Penile Aesthetics (Penoplasty)
Penile aesthetics, also called penoplasty, are surgical procedures performed to make the male sexual organ more functional and give it an aesthetic appearance.
Penile aesthetics performed because the organ is small, thin or curved are not carried out for aesthetic concerns alone. Some patients may experience sexual dysfunction due to the shape of the penis, while some men are psychologically affected and begin sexual intercourse with stress and anxiety.
Rising stress and anxiety can create psychological effects ranging from self-confidence problems to even depression. In this case, a man may withdraw from sexuality and have problems with his partner. If this process is prolonged, it can lead to permanent sexual health problems.
Preferred by many patients in recent years, penoplasty helps relieve these concerns and offers the promise of a healthy sex life again.
What Should Normal Penile Length Be?
The answer to the question of what a normal penile length should be is important when deciding on penile aesthetics. Penile length varies from person to person, but on average a flaccid penis is expected to be 5–6 centimeters.
Since an erect penis lengthens and thickens, penile length reaches 12–14 centimeters. On average, an erect penis of 12 centimeters or more is considered normal. A penile length below 11 centimeters is considered short.
Penile girth also varies from person to person, but should be 4–5 centimeters on average. Penises below this girth are considered thin. Penile aesthetics performed to bring a penis that falls below the reference values up to normal values brings smiles with its positive results.
What Are Penoplasty Operations?
Penile aesthetic operations can be examined under 3 headings: penile lengthening, penile thickening and penile curvature correction.
Penile Lengthening: Performed on men whose penis falls below reference values or who wish to have a longer penis. There are two methods. The first is performed by cutting the tissues between the penis and the pelvic bone and drawing the penis further forward. In the second method, fat at the base of the penis is removed and shaped as a continuation of the penis, making the penis look longer.
Penile Thickening: With penile thickening surgery, which can be performed using 3 different methods — fat transfer, tissue transfer (tissue engineering) and filler injection — volume is added to penises with below-average girth.
Penile Curvature Correction: In these operations, performed to correct penile curvature that may arise from many causes such as improper circumcision, penile curvature, accidents, trauma and surgeries, and vitamin deficiency, prosthesis and plication techniques are used.
In Which Cases Are Penoplasty Operations Performed?
Before penoplasty operations, a urologic examination and a number of tests are performed and the patient's complaints are heard. If no problem is detected, the most appropriate choice for the penoplasty operation is determined according to the patient's complaint under the supervision of an andrology and urology specialist.
Those with complaints of a micro, thin, short or curved penis can have the penis they desire thanks to penile aesthetic surgery. Penoplasty operations are not performed only on people in whom these problems are detected. Even if a person has no problem at all, any man who is not satisfied with his penile length or girth can have penile aesthetic surgery.
The only condition is that there is no problem with general health. Apart from this, penoplasty operations can also be performed based on personal preference.
How Are Penile Aesthetic Operations Performed?
After a detailed examination and tests by a specialist doctor, the most suitable penile aesthetic operation for the candidate is determined. Penile aesthetic operations, mostly performed under general anesthesia, are carried out as follows:
Recovery After Penile Enlargement and Thickening Surgery
How the period after penile enlargement and thickening surgery goes plays a decisive role in the results of the treatment. After penoplasty operations, performed sometimes for aesthetic and sometimes for sexual health concerns, conditions such as loss of sensation or premature ejaculation do not occur.
Things to pay attention to after penile aesthetic surgery:
The operated area should be kept clean and dry, and dressings should not be neglected.
The recommended medications should be used.
Comfortable clothing and underwear should be preferred.
You should not shower for 3 days after penile aesthetic surgery. Showering with hot water is never recommended during the first week.
Sports should be avoided for 20 days.
Complications that may develop after penile enlargement and thickening surgery are as follows:
The patient may develop an infection.
Wound healing may take a long time.
In thickening surgery with fat injection, conditions such as fat necrosis may occur. Although rare, this can lead to negative outcomes such as penile curvature and fibrosis.
Penile Aesthetic Surgery Prices
Penile aesthetic operations are shaped according to the person's wishes and should be performed after a healthy doctor–patient relationship has been established. One of the topics most wondered about by people who wish to have penoplasty is the price of penile aesthetic surgery.
The procedures performed in penile aesthetics are very diverse. Penile aesthetic surgery prices vary according to the method to be applied, the hospital where the operation will be performed, the specialist doctor and team performing the procedure, and the materials and equipment to be used.
For this reason, it is not possible to say anything definite about the price of penile aesthetic surgery. For people who wish to have penile aesthetics, it would be more sensible to base their choice on the experience and quality of the specialist doctor rather than on penile aesthetic surgery prices.
