Robotic Surgery in Urology

What Is Robotic Urologic Surgery?

Robotic urologic surgery refers to advanced-technology surgical methods that use robotic systems in urologic operations.
Performed through small incisions compared with open surgery, these operations speed up recovery.
Thanks to three-dimensional high-resolution imaging, successful results are achieved in urologic surgery.

Applications of robotic urologic surgery

-Prostate surgery
-Radical prostatectomy
-Surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia
-Kidney surgery
-Partial nephrectomy
-Radical nephrectomy
-Pyeloplasty
-Bladder surgery
-Radical cystectomy
-And -All operations performed laparoscopically

Advantages of robotic surgery for the patient

-Smaller incisions

-Less blood loss

-Faster recovery

-Less pain

-Lower risk of infection

-Shorter hospital stay

-Faster return to daily life

-More aesthetic scarring

Advantages of robotic surgery

3D high-resolution imaging
Better preservation of delicate nerve and vascular structures (magnification)
Enhanced freedom of movement
The robotic system filters hand tremor, allowing very precise movements

Is robotic surgery safe?

When performed by an experienced surgeon with appropriate patient selection, robotic surgery is one of the modern surgical methods used safely.
Is robotic surgery suitable for every patient?
Robotic surgery may not be suitable for every patient. The most appropriate treatment plan is created by evaluating the patient's condition, general health and previous surgeries.

How long does recovery take after robotic surgery?

Recovery time varies by type of surgery; most patients can be discharged within 1–3 days. Light activities may be possible within a few days and a return to normal work within 1–2 weeks. Full recovery may take 4–8 weeks. However, the speed of recovery differs for each patient; general health, age and type of surgery are important factors.
