INTRAUTERINE INSEMINATION (IUI)
Insemination (IUI, intrauterine insemination) is the procedure of placing sperm cells collected from the man into the woman's uterus during ovulation. For this procedure to be performed, at least one of the patient's fallopian tubes must be open, and the count, motility and morphology of the sperm cells must be within limits that allow insemination.
Who is this method recommended for?
Patients with mildly to moderately impaired sperm count and motility,
Patients with erection or ejaculation problems,
Presence of antibodies against sperm in women,
Patients with mild to moderate endometriosis,
Presence of unexplained infertility.
The success rate of insemination is 10-30% per treatment, and it is recommended to move on to IVF after a total of 2-3 insemination attempts. If there is very little or no sperm in the semen, or if both of the woman's fallopian tubes are blocked, IVF treatment should be started directly.
IVF (IN VITRO FERTILIZATION)
IVF treatment covers the treatment process in which eggs, the female reproductive cells, and sperm, the male reproductive cells, are collected and brought together outside the body in a laboratory setting to achieve fertilization.
In IVF, fertilization of the eggs is carried out in two ways:
Fertilization in the laboratory is achieved either by placing the sperm next to the eggs and waiting for the sperm to enter the egg and fertilize it on their own (conventional IVF),
or by injecting a sperm directly into the egg with a pipette under a microscope (microinjection, ICSI).
